Matej Mohoric finished fifth in the Strade Bianche 2024 and after the race, he made it clear that his compatriot Tadej Pogacar was unbeatable, stressing that for him, Pogacar is the best cyclist in the world today:
"He is a bit better than the rest," Mohoric laughs in a post-race interview with Cycling Pro Net. "When he went alone there was no cooperation from behind and he also had teammates, he has proven why he is the number 1 in cycling for so long."
He was asked about the differences between a gravel race (he is the world champion) and this Strade Bianche full of 'sterrato' sections. "Gravel races are more technical, there are parts with narrow single rider lanes and more mountain bike-like descents," the Bahrain - Victorious man explains.
Despite missing out on the podium, Mohoric was content with his 5th place. "I love this race, although today it was very hard, very long, I would have wished for an easier start. But I gave it my all, I could have got the podium, but in the back group we had even forces and a fifth place is not a bad result."
