On Friday, the Dutch Road Race Championship was held. Pascal Eenkhoorn won the race, with Daan Hoole finishing second and
Taco Van der Hoorn finishing third. Taco Van der Hoorn is dissatisfied with his third-place finish.
"I am disappointed though. I think I was pretty strong, but I was a bit caught up. You know that's going to happen at the
national championships, the third place doesn't count in the end, only the jersey counts," he said at the end of the race. He had made his way onto the day's breakaway that discussed the win, but missed the winning move from Daan Hoole and Pascal Eenkhoorn in the final kilometers.
"So I'm disappointed and I think I had the legs to win. Jumbo-Visma played it well. In the breakaway, we already heard that they didn't continue with Oscar Riesebeek and me and that was a bit frustrating," he detailed.
He was left chasing in the finale, and finishing in first place out of the riders behind the leading duo. "We tried a few times, but it didn't really work out. In the last lap, we drove as hard as we could to see if we could come back, to at least try to ride for the win. We just didn't come back. Maybe I should have gone sooner..." he said.
