The Dutch road cycling championship was won by Pascal Eenkhoorn. He managed to finish ahead of his breakaway partner Daan Hoole, in what was the best result of his career and a very important win.
"This is cool. It's a bit unexpected, but nice to finish it, It was a tactical race, actually like always at the national championships. I just had good legs. Eventually, we had an offensive situation and Hoole attacked," Eenkhoorn explained.
"I jumped along and we just rode full until the finish," he added. The 25-year old had the opportunity and striked in his best way, after having tried multiple times in the recent Giro d'Italia.
It's really an honor to be the Dutch champion. I was the big favorite and to finish it and to be in the history of Dutch cycling is really nice," he concluded. He will be carrying the Dutch colours for a year, a suiting reward for the country's top Dutch team.
