Dorian Godon doesn't seem the guy you want to mess with, big fella made for this harsh weather. 👍 Two stage victories for him this week, he's definitely in the best shape of his life. #TDR2024
Although he may not consider himself a sprinter, there's no question that Dorian Godon is the quickest at the Tour de Romandie, taking his second stage win of the race on the final stage from a reduced bunch.
"The weather was really bad, which made the day anything but fun. The breakaway of the day was also strong, which meant we had to pursue seriously," the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team star reflected of his day in his post-stage interview. "Add to that a number of attacks in the final and you have a very difficult stage. Fortunately I was well surrounded by my teammates. Nicolas Prodhomme was my personal assistant today, he was really strong."
After Simone Consonni opened up the sprint, Godon emerged from his slipstream at the perfect time to power towards the win. "At 400 meters from the finish Prodhomme launched me, after which I was able to finish. Clément Berthet also did a great job. I didn't calculate myself. I just kept going full steam ahead," Godon recalls. "That turned out well."
"When I saw the finish line, I had no doubts anymore. I don't think it gets any better than this. My form has been top all season. That's nice to know. Sprinted twice and won twice. And that for a non-sprinter, haha!" laughs the French powerhouse in conclusion.
