Soudal - Quick-Step's Tour of Britain star suffers "serious concussion" after crash on final stage

Despite emerging from the 2024 Tour of Britain as one of the big sprint stars for the future, Paul Magnier's performance, with 3 wins during the race, has been overshadowed after it was confirmed that the 20-year-old cyclist has suffered a "severe concussion" in a crash on the final stage.

On the final stage of the race, Magnier was unable to contest what would have been his fourth victory due to a heavy crash, the consequences of which Soudal Quick-Step confirmed in a statement via their official website.

"Paul Magnier was involved in a crash that forced him to say goodbye to the race whose bunch sprints he dominated. The Frenchman, who at that moment was wearing the red jersey rewarding the leader of the points classification, was immediately taken to the hospital in Ipswich for a series of investigations," they write in a statement. "Paul underwent a CT scan which revealed a serious brain concussion that requires him to spend the night in the hospital. At the same time, the 20-year-old suffered some serious abrasions to his elbow and knee that will need some stitching."
