Egan Bernal is feeling very good so far at the Criterium du Dauphiné. In the first contact with the mountain, he was the strongest of his team, the INEOS Grenadiers.
The Colombian cyclist could not keep up with Jonas Vingegaard, but he did join the first group of favourites that crossed the finish line after the Dane, riding without problems alongside them on the second climb and even attacking in the final part.
Worse luck befell the 2 theoretically INEOS leaders in the race, their compatriot Daniel Martínez and the Spanish champion Carlos Rodríguez, who could not keep up with the pace of that main group on the climb and entered somewhat behind. Thus, while Bernal entered 31 seconds behind Vingegaard, Martínez did so at 45 and Rodríguez at one minute and two seconds.
If the INEOS team is being set up in this Dauphiné for the next Tour de France, we can affirm that, at least so far, the feelings regarding Egan Bernal are very good and that he deserves to be at the start of Bilbao. However, the hardest part remains to be played in this Dauphiné in which we will live the hardest this weekend in the days of Saturday and Sunday.
