Shane Archbold on new role with BORA - hansgrohe and Primoz Roglic: "My focus will be on helping the riders to fully realize their capabilities"

Shane Archbold has for large years been a premier leadout in the peloton. Ever since 2015 he's been part of the BORA - hansgrohe structure but from next year onwards he'll take on a new role in the team as a DS.

"I'm very happy that the team has given me the opportunity to continue with the squad in this new role as a team leader. It will be great working with the new generation," the Kiwi said recently. "In this way, I can pass on my experience and knowledge to the future generation of BORA-hansgrohe. My focus will be on helping the riders to fully realize their capabilities."

Ultimately he will be helping young riders and mainly the sprinters of the team, including new signing Sam Welsford who could become the main figure in the flat finishes. However, the team had a big winter transfer season with Primoz Roglic now in the headline of the team. Figures like Daniel Martínez and Matteo Sobrero are also joining the team.

Away from the sprints Archbold can also provide valuable experience when it comes to positioning and the GC riders. This will become crucial for the consistency of Primoz Roglic and avoiding crashes. The team will ultimately build a block capable of supporting him in the flat races.
