SD Worx manager turns down any speculations about Lotte Kopecky's start at Tour de France Femmes: "She will ride the Tour anyway"

Lotte Kopecky made a surprising statement regarding her participation at this year's Tour de France Femmes. The 27-year old said that she didn't yet know if she would ride the race. However Team SD Worx manager Danny Stam quickly turned down any speculations in an interview for Het Laatste Nieuws.

This year the Giro will run from June 30 to July 9, the Tour from July 23 to July 30. "Whether I will ride the Giro or the Tour, we will communicate about that later. Both choices have advantages and disadvantages towards the World Championships," Kopecky said after Dwars door het Hageland.

"A strange statement from Lotte," says Stam now. "Lotte has known for a while that the Tour is on her program. She will ride the Tour anyway."

"In a group sprint after a flat stage, Lorena is our best weapon, but not every flat or hilly stage ends with a sprint of big group. Lotte will get enough chances to win a stage herself. The Tour route is very diverse. Something for everyone."
