Saudi Tour becomes AlUla Tour in attempt to draw more tourists to this region of Saudi Arabia

There won't be Saudi Tour anymore. The traditional season opener in Saudia Arabia, scheduled between January 30 and February 3, will be renamed to AlUla Tour in 2024, with more attention being drawn to the tourist region of AlUla. The region is also the title sponsor of WorldTeam Jayco AlUla.

AlUla is a tourist region in the northwest of the much-discussed Saudi Arabia. It wants to put the region on the map as a cycling paradise and holiday destination through name sponsorship. In the Saudi Tour the riders also invariably passed through the AlUla region and that is partly why the name of the race has now been changed.

The Saudi Tour has been back on the international calendar since 2020 and is also making an impact in the country, according to Mai Al Helabi, the Minister of Sports in Saudi Arabia.

"We look forward to sending the best cyclists through the most unique locations, which will be seen worldwide," says Al Helabi. "The AlUla Tour is creating a legacy in this country, with more and more people gaining access to a sustainable sport that inspires people to move, be active and healthy."
