Robert Gesink on inverted brake levers ban: "If a certain adjustment leads to less safe situations, it is a good thing that measures are taken"

The UCI has imposed restrictions on the angles that the brake levers may have and also carries out checks. Which has led to different reactions among the riders participating at the Tour Down Under, the first WorldTour race of the year.

Robert Gesink understands the UCI's choice. "I think it's a good decision overall," he told GCN. "We only saw some pretty extreme adjustments. These things are of course designed to brake and to control your bike. If a certain adjustment leads to less safe situations, it is a good thing that measures are taken."

"We have now seen the first measurements. I don't know if this will be the final measurement method, but it still looked a bit clumsy, with a plastic device that still left quite a bit of space. But checking it out is definitely a good first step," thinks the Team Visma | Lease a Bike road captain.
