It is time for the opening weekend! Some call it the start of the road season, but unanimously everyone agrees that it is the first big Flemish classic of the year and it all starts with Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, which gives a little taste of the spring classics already on the 25th of February.
The women's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad will feature a 132 kilometers and will see a first battle amongst the specialists. The race features a combined total of 13 bergs and cobbled sectors which combined will provide plenty opportunities for attacks, tactics to be played out, and plenty of excitement. The riders will go through the famous Muur de Geraarsdsbergen (1.2Km; 7%) and Bosberg (800m; 6.5%) combination before a slight downhill finale into Ninove.
