Preview. In the Ligurian Alps the riders find one of the toughest Italian classics on the calendar, the mountainous Giro dell'Appennino will take place on the 2nd of June this year following the Giro d'Italia.
Throughout almost 200 kilometers the riders will find almost 3000 meters of climbing. The grand majority in it's second half, it's not a brutal race but one for the climbers, or puncheurs who may resist and take advantage of the descents and flat ground. Two climbs will be decisive in the race over the final kilometers with 6.2Km at 7.7% and 6.9Km at 7.9%, before a steep descent and a flat final 16 kilometers where a lot can still happen.
