Orluis Aular has won the 2023 CRO Race, surviving a late crash in a dramatic finale as Campbell Stewart sprinted to victory on the final stage of the race in Zagreb.
Heading into the final city circuit, a five-man breakaway held a 47-second lead over the peloton. But as the teams began to prepare for the final bunch sprint of this year's race, that gap was getting cut drastically and with just over 2km to go, they were caught.
In the finale, with bonus seconds on offer, race leader Orluis Aular needed a good finish but the Venezualan crashed in the final few hundred metres. Campbell Stewart took the win ahead of Alexander Kristoff and Gal Glivar but despite the crash the Caja Rural - Seguros RGA man was crowned overall race winner.
