After swirling rumours of a return for the 2025 season in recent weeks, the most successful sprinter of all-time, Mark Cavendish has now officially confirmed his retirement from professional cycling.
Speaking ahead of the Tour de France Singapore Criterium, the record breaking 35 time Tour de France stage winner put an end to the speculation and confirmed once and for all that this would be his final race in the peloton. "Sunday will be the final race of my professional cycling career," Cavendish said. "I am lucky enough to have done what I love for almost 20 years and I can now say that I have achieved everything that I can on the bike."
"Cycling has given me so much and I love the sport, l've always wanted to make a difference in it and now I am ready to see what the next chapter has in store for me," concludes the Manx Missile, thanking his supporters for all their support over the course of his legendary career. "Thank you, everyone, for all the support, always."
