Ahead of the 2025 season getting underway in Australia next month, the former Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL have refreshed their kit and acquired a new title sponsor. Whilst some things are changing though, others stay the same as John Degenkolb has also secured himself another year in the World Tour.
Firstly, the new name - Team Picnic PostNL. “The arrival of Picnic is incredibly exciting for multiple reasons. Picnic’s key values – innovation, quality and promoting a healthy lifestyle – are naturally very close to ours. Both Picnic and the team are organisations which display a lot of enthusiasm, ambition and a great drive to progress and make things happen; we both consider a challenge first and foremost as an opportunity rather than a limitation. With Picnic joining us, we will further strengthen the team’s performance and contribute to a future where we continue to innovate and bring out the best in ourselves and in each other and so keep progressing the team as a whole," says team CEO Iwan Spekenbrink in a press release.
"At the same time, we are motivated to join Picnic in their journey to grow and expand across Europe, with their current focus on France, Germany and The Netherlands," Spekenbrink continues. "We want to take the opportunity to thank dsm-firmenich for the many years of invaluable partnership and we look forward to continuing working closely alongside them and their amazing spirit as very driven, leading innovators, in particular. With Picnic and the great combination of prestigious partners by our side, we will continue to build a sustainable and successful team.”
As you might expect with a new title sponsor, a new kit and a slightly adjusted colour scheme have also arrived for 2025. In a mostly dark, navy blue, the traditional orange colouring of PostNL can be seen via two stripes down the midriff, with both PostNL and Picnic logos featured heavily on the middle of the jersey.
As mentioned, amidst all the changes, John Degenkolb has also secured himself a 10th successive season at the team. "If you haven’t read it yet, here a short update on myself: you know that I am super happy here with my @teamdsm. So happy that I‘ll add one more year and we extended our contract till end of 2026," Degenkolb writes on his social media. "So happy to be 2 more seasons in the worldtour with this awesome crew, team & new kit."
