Nairo Quintana suffers another hard crash in the Volta a Catalunya and drops out of the race

Nairo Quintana is not having the desired Volta a Catalunya. It was his first race in Europe in over a year and the first after overcoming Covid-19 that made him unable to perform at a good level in the Tour Colombia; but two crashes have taken him out of the race.

The Movistar Team climber has abandoned the race after crashing just before the start of the final circuit through Barcelona. He had already crashed the day before suffering a small knee injury. It is a meaningful hit ahead of the Giro d'Italia where he hopes to perform in the fight for the overall classification.

Ideally, the Colombian would be starting Itzulia Basque Country soon to further test his form and chase results; but there is no certainty if this will be happening following another setback.
