Although cycling has seen a financial boom across the board in recent years, it's fair to say that not all teams are feeling the benefit. One of those struggling is the French-based team of Emmanuel Hubert, Arkéa - B&B Hotels.
Despite bagging themselves notable victories including a stage at the Tour de France earlier this year through talented French prospect Kevin Vauquelin, and most recently at Paris-Chauny through Arnaud Demare, a lack of potential sponsors coming forward is starting to cast the future of the team into real doubt.
Speaking to Ouest France, general manager of the Arkéa - B&B Hotels, Emmanuel Hubert confirms the team will be in the World Tour peloton in 2025. Beyond that though, things may come to a sticky end. “I am not saying that we have had a bad season, but it has not been excellent in terms of visibility. My team is in danger. There is a risk of disappearing,” the Frenchman reveals glumly.
As reported by AS, despite concerns over the prospects of the team in 2025, confirmation of sponsorship from Arkea has been granted. The search goes on as far as 2026 and beyond goes though. “In less than five years, 60% of French teams will have disappeared. This model is no longer viable,” Hubert notes, accepting things can't continue as they have been.
