Despite opting to leave the
Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team for
EF Education-EasyPost this winter, Mikkel Honore has only positive memories of his time working under
Patrick Lefevere, "I can't say anything negative about Quick-Step" he admits.
It's understood Quick-Step had hoped that Honore would stay with the team at least until the end of his contract, however for the 25-year-old Dane an opportunity to ride for the American team was an offer he could not refuse. “I made this choice to pursue my own opportunities. After being in one place for four years, I need a new stimulus. I want to meet new people and try something new." Honore says. "EF Education-EasyPost is a small team, but it has big ambitions. It is also a team with a story. There are riders who have achieved very good results here. I feel it is a place where I can perform well.”
Signing a contract with EF that runs until 2025, Honore was full of praise for Lefevre and his former teammates. "I am incredibly grateful for what Patrick Lefevere has given me and my career. He was the first to believe in me. I'll never forget."
Before adding on his past teammates, "I have a strong feeling that thanks to them I became the person I am today. They're not just teammates, they're friends."
