"Maybe it's better that he gave up in the end" - Pascal Eenkhoorn comments on Caleb Ewan

After the retirement of Caleb Ewan during the 13th stage, Stéphane Heulot, manager of the Lotto Dstny formation, had openly criticized the Australian sprinter and thus revealed the tensions in the Belgian team. Pascal Eenkhoorn spoke on the subject in the Live Slow Ride Fast podcast.

"The way things have gone the past few days could have been better. There have been accusations back and forth. We did everything for him, but there were misunderstandings. For example, during a stage, Caleb wanted to put himself on the left of the road and the team on the right, and he did not accept that we go by the right. We were often opposed on things like this."

"We were there for him and he didn't fight, it's a shame. Florian and Frederik waited for him for a quarter of an hour during the 13th stage, and this when the deadlines were only half an hour, and in the end, he gave up... For the atmosphere, maybe it's better that he gave up in the end," explained, in all frankness, the Dutchman.
