Matteo Malucelli wins opening stage of Giro di Sicilia

After a very complicated set of months, in which his team Gazprom - Rusvelo (now just Rusvelo) has been stripped of it's UCI license, Matteo Malucelli has returned to competition under the colours of the Italian national team at the Giro di Sicilia where he has taken a very special win.

Trek-Segafredo timed their leadout to perfection as they hit the front with 1.5 kilometers to go, and too Matteo Moschetti to perfect position in the final corner. The uphill sprint was complicated and Moschetti hit the front early, but soon the figure of Malucelli stormed through and took a strong win, his second of the season.

The Italian national team had several riders in the Top10, posing a dominant figure in the end with a collective celebration. Malucelli is the first leader of the race, as he beat Moschetti and Filippo Fiorelli at the line.
