Mathieu van der Poel was spotted testing a new prototype frame from Canyon. This frame appears to be very similar to Canyon's Aeroad, suggesting that a new version of the bike is on the way.
Gianni Vermeersch's Instagram story and van der Poel's Strava activity showed pictures of van der Poel riding a matte black road bike, but they disappeared soon after. Dutch website WielerFlits reached out to Canyon for official confirmation, to which they replied, "something we are working on."
Further information about the frame was not provided by the company. Although the new frame is very similar to the current version, there are some noticeable differences. There appears to be a change in the frame at the junction of the top tube and seat tube area, with the pictures showing some extra material in this area. The seat tube looks to have been lowered slightly.
The head tube also appears slightly thinner and has some sort of aero profiling at the bottom of the head tube. Although nothing certain can be said by just looking at the pictures. The current version gained a bad reputation after Van der Poel snapped his handlebars at La Samyn in 2021. The newer version will hopefully tackle the issue.
