Matej Mohoric at risk of missing Paris-Roubaix following tough injury at Tour of Flanders

Bahrain - Victorious saw Matej Mohoric in contention for the Tour of Flanders for large kilometers but the outcome was not the best for the Slovenian. Away from the TV broadcast, Mohoric crashed late in the race and suffered injuries which may prevent him from racing Paris-Toubaix.

"Following the crash at Tour of Flanders, Matej Mohoric sustained a soft tissue injury and deep cut to his elbow which required stitches," the team shared on social media this Sunday. "Fortunately, there are no fractures. He will undergo further assessment in the coming days regarding his participation in Roubaix."

Mohoric was in contention for a Top10, but it is not clear under which circumstances the crash happened. Having taken stitches to the elbow to treat a deep cut, he will certainly be out of the road for a few days so as to recover from it, but it is going to be complicated to fully heal before the 'Hell of the North'.

This poses a big issue for the team which may lose it's leader. Mohoric was fifth in Roubaix back in 2022 and by all means would be a contender for the podium under ideal conditions. Over the coming days his condition will be accessed before a decision is made.
