Mark Cavendish shares message of disappointment after lack of communication from Quick-Step

Mark Cavendish has not been selected to the Tour de France, and he has taken to social media to express his disappointment in Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team's decision.

Cavendish had said after his win at the national championships that “I haven’t had a call from the team one way or the other". He reinstates those claims as he says he found out the news that he was not selected to the Tour de France via social media, and not in person or from team staff. In an Instagram post, he wrote: "Well, just found out the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team selection for Tour de France on my socials".

This comes as the confirmation of the expected news that the Manxman would not be at the Tour. He's won a stage at the Giro d'Italia and the recent national championships, however it nevertheless was a surprise to some despite the clear signs that Fabio Jakobsen would be leading the team this summer.

The likes of Julian Alaphilippe and Florian Sénéchal also didn't make the cut, as the team announced a diverse lineup this morning.
