The organization of the Tour Colombia 2.1 can count on the participation of three WorldTeams from February 6-11. Movistar, Astana Qazaqstan and EF Education-EasyPost have confirmed their participation in the Colombian stage race, which will be held for the first time since 2020.
Astana Qazaqstan has already passed on the names of Mark Cavendish and Harold Tejada for the Tour Colombia, while Movistar will celebrate Nairo Quintana's comeback in his own country. Another interesting name expected to make an appearance would be the ever-young Óscar Sevilla with Team Medellín.
Additionally, two ProTeams will make the trip to South America; the Belgian Bingoal WB and Corratec-Selle Italia. The rest of the 26 teams at the start include Portuguese Sabgal Anicolor, Dutch Universe CT, Turkish Beykoz, Moroccan Sidi Ali or Indonesian Nusantara, along plethora of continental teams from South and Central America. Two national selections from Brazil and Colombia complete the starting list.
It was only announced relatively late that the Tour Colombia 2.1 would take place in 2024, which made it difficult for the organization to attract more large teams. Colombia is looking for a successor to former winners Sergio Higuita (2020), Miguel Ángel López (2019) and Egan Bernal (2018). Higuita and Bernal, with Daniel Felipe Martinez, will race with the Colombian national team.
