Lotte Kopecky delighted to win the GC of a race for only second time in her career: "It is not easy to win a general classification"

Lotte Kopecky takes it all home on the last stage of Thüringen Ladies Tour, which she won with solo attack in the later parts of the stage. The Belgian not only won on the day, but also secured overall victory and cherry on top is the points jersey.

“It wasn't as easy as it might have looked,” said the 27-year-old SD Worx rider in the flash interview afterwards. “But I am happy that our plan worked out well, to win the stage and to win the final classification."

Kopecky followed an earlier attack by her teammate Lorena Wiebes. “She had already done a lot of work during the ride. I was surprised she still had this in her legs. She was a perfect springboard. In the end it worked out very well.”

Kopecky was naturally delighted with the overall victory. During her professional career, she has only won a stage race once before: the Lotto Belgium Tour in 2021. “It is not easy to win a general classification. You have to be there every day. And I haven't won a general classification that many times in my career, so I'm very happy to add this win."
