Jonas Vingegaard send ominous warning after Dauphine stage win: "I don't think I'm in top form, I still have a lot of work to do between now and the Tour de France"

For the second time in three days, Jonas Vingegaard was the first man across the line at the Critérium du Dauphiné. After soloing to victory in dominant fashion, Vingegaard sent out an ominous warning to those who wish to challenge him for the Maillot Jaune.

"I felt very good, so I wanted to get the stage," said the Jumbo-Visma leader in his post-stage interview. "It was the plan we had planned, I'm very happy that it worked. I have to thank all my team members who once again did a great job. The slope was getting very steep 6 km from the finish, we decided to harden the tempo with Tiesj Benoot and Attila Valter to prepare an attack. I was able to go solo, I'm very happy."

Traditionally seen as a tune-up race for the Tour de France, the Critérium du Dauphiné is always a good place to send a message to your rivals, just as Vingegaard has been doing. With one stage left, can the Dane make it a hat-trick of stage wins?

"Tomorrow, we'll see how I feel, but it's a very different stage. In any case, it's one of the biggest races of the year, I would be very honoured if I manage to win it tomorrow," he says. "I don't think I'm in top form, I still have a lot of work to do between now and the Tour de France."
