National champion, Jay Vine, had a strong showing in the Tour Down Under prologue, coming in ninth place and 14 seconds behind the winner, Alberto Bettiol.
He chose to ride cautiously today due to the wet weather to avoid any accidents. “I’m happy with how I went out there and, importantly managed to stay upright in the wet and not ruin this brand new national champions skinsuit which was shipped over from Italy from Pissei, especially for me,” Vine said after the race.
The hills in the upcoming stages will be a great opportunity for the Australian climber.“There are lots of stages with favourable terrain on the way in this race so we’re going to give it our all,” concluded Vine.
