Marianne Vos was the first rider to cross the finish line in Postnord Vargarda West Sweden today. However, She was disqualified for using the wrong posture and lost the gold to Audrey Cordon-Ragot.
"It's a real bummer, but that's the way it is," Vos said. She continues, "When I was in that puppy paw position, I realized after a few seconds that it was not allowed. Then I switched to the right position as quickly as possible. Apparently, it was enough for the UCI to disqualify me. We'll have to accept that."
Although she is not thrilled to have lost the gold, she respects the UCI decision and accepts her mistake. "It's a pity, but it's a rule. That rule is strictly enforced. I feel bad because I didn't benefit from it, but rules are rules,” concluded Vos.
