"It wasn’t the best day for either of us" - Ben Healy eyes next opportunity at La Flèche Wallonne after lacklusted Amstel Gold Race

For EF Education-EasyPost, Amstel Gold Race was a race where a lot could go well, but even more could go wrong. And in the end, it was a mix of both for the American team, as Marijn van den Berg was strong enough to survive in the main group, but leaders Richard Carapaz and Ben Healy were unable to pull away from that same group.

"It was a hard attritional day," said Healy afterwards. "We played the pre-final pretty perfectly, putting Mikkel up there, with the hope that in the end either Richard or I would have the legs to jump across to him, but unfortunately, it wasn’t the best day for either of us, I think, but we had Marijn still going strong, so we did what we could to pull the front back and deliver Marijn for the sprint."

Next chance to shine will present itself to the men in pink at La Flèche Wallonne this Wednesday, with a brutal Mur de Huy finish.
