"I’m sorry to have scared everyone" - Eva van Agt talks scary Tour de France Femmes crash, suffers concussion and some stitches

Eva Van Agt was the victim of a harsh crash last afternoon at the Tour de France Femmes. The Dutch rider fell with just over 6 kilometers to go and layed motionless on the roadside, but has partially recovered and already updated her fans in a social media post.

"My life is like a dream, but for those who love me it turned for a little while into a nightmare yesterday - I’m sorry to have scared everyone," she wrote on Instagram. "Unfortunately, I had to leave the second stage of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in an ambulance after a crash in the last descent. Physically I’m pretty okay: I have a long contusion, concussion and some stitches, but of course I’m really disappointed to let the team down like this."

Her abandon from the race leaves Jumbo-Visma without one less rider to support Marianne Vos and Riejanne Markus, however the 26-year old has appeared on better spirits then expected after her injuries. A concussion might have been the worst from them, and will take some time to recover before returning to competition.

"Thanks to all the good care of the team I will head to the Netherlands today to recover there. Thank you for all your kind messages, it really cheers me up. Due to the concussion I try to limit my screen time, so I’ll reply later!" she concluded.
