Alexander Kristoff's ultimate goal this summer, just like everyone else's at Uno-X will be to leave the best possible mark on this year's Tour de France. The 35-year old Norwegian hopes to add his fifth stage win at the French Grand Tour. His last win dates back to 2020, when he won a rainy stage in Nice.
"He is our captain, the King of Stavanger," said manager Jens Haugland about Kristoff's position. "To be honest, I had hoped for slightly better results. But of course I'm also getting older, so it's getting harder and harder for me," says Kristoff with a smile in an interview with In de Leiderstrui.
"Look, I'm not necessarily dissatisfied with my spring," while the fourth place at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad adds some weight to his statement. "On the other hand, you naturally keep hoping that you will be just as good as before. Let me say that I am quite satisfied," said Kristoff regarding his season until now.
Kristoff hopes to repeat his 6th place from Wollongong last year. "Hopefully I can come out of the Tour with good form like last year. The course of the World Cycling Championships in Glasgow suits me well."
