Guillaume Martin wins Tour de l'Ain as Antonio Pedrero secures gold in final stage

Antonio Pedrero has won the third and final stage of the Tour de l'Ain. He was part of the breakaway group and maintained his lead till the finish line.

The breakaway riders included Sylvain Moniquet, Andrea Piccolo, Antonio Pedrero, and Julian Alaphilippe. They managed to get a lead of 1 minute and 40 seconds from the peloton. The lead grew to 3 minutes and 50 seconds 59 kilometers before the finish line.

A second group consisting of Piccolo, Rodriguez, Vanhoucke, and Prodhomme were following the breakaway rider just 1 minute behind. Forty kilometers before the finish line breakaway rider split, Antonio Pedrero gained the 50-second lead, which grew to 2 minutes and 30 seconds in the next 10 kilometers. Alaphilippe and Rodriguez rode together just 1 minute and 50 seconds behind Pedrero.

Pedrero was starting to lose his lead with just 1 minute and 50 seconds in the final 10 kilometers. With just 4 skilometers to go, it was clear Pedrero would win, but the rider was also aiming for GC. Antonio Pedrero crossed the finish first to secure gold. Harry Sweeny finished in second place while George Bennett secured bronze. Guillaume Martin won the tour.
