Axel Zingle wins first stage of Arctic Race of Norway

Axel Zingle has won the first stage of the Arctic Race of Norway. The Frenchman was the fastest amongst his rivals to cross the finish line.

The breakaway included Aaron Van Poucke (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise), Luis Angel Maté (Euskaltel-Euskadi), Stephen Bassett (Human Powered Health), Sam Culverwell (Trinity Racing), and Eirik Lunder (Team Coop). They managed to create a four minutes lead.

The peloton caught with the breakaway rider just 23 kilometers before the finish line. There were several attempts, but no rider could take the lead. Ultimately, it came down to a sprint in which Axel Zingle took the victory. Gleb Syritsa secured silver while Mathieu Burgaudeau finished third.
