Budapest hosted the start of the 2022
Giro d'Italia, in an unusual start of the race abroad. With a stage for the puncheurs, a tricky time-trial and a bunch sprint, it's safe to say the opening three days of racing delivered the spectacle, whilst providing with a different scenery and a boost to Hungarian cycling.
"We want to thank Hungary, the government, local residents, fans and naturally the local organising committee for the Grande Partenza. The last three days have been a real success," he added.
With the Tour of Hungary underway from today onwards, the Grande Partenza has been combined with the race's rapidly-growing stage-race which takes in 11 World Tour teams who have kept staff and race vehicles in Hungary for the combination of races.
