Florian Senechal had to face defeat once again as
Matteo Trentin took the victory with a surprise attack in the second stage of the
Tour de Luxembourg.
“I’m disappointed because I am quite sure I could have won if not for that attack that I had to close,” said Senechal. His disappointment is justified seeing it was a sure victory for him till the final 100 meters. But everything changed in the last few seconds when Matteo Trentin pushed his pedals hard and took the sprint ahead of Senechal.
Though disappointed, he remains optimistic for the next stage. “When Oliveira went with about 350 meters to go once Jannik peeled off the front, I had to pull hard to shut down that move. I did it, but Trentin came out of my wheel and passed me in the last meters. It won’t be easy in the next stages, but we’ll try again”, Florian concluded. He continues to hold the 5th position in GC.
