Dion Smith was once part of Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert, but then both went their separate ways in 2019. Now Smith has once again decided to join his old team. He has signed a two-year contract with the Belgian team.
“When I joined the World Tour peloton in 2019, saying goodbye to Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux never felt definitive,” said Smith. He continues, “For them to want me back shows they still believe I have something to give, and this motivates me.”
He excels in sprints and climbing and the team is looking to utilize his skills to improve their peloton. “The program will be specific to my abilities. I look forward to working with familiar faces and meeting new ones. My two participations at the Tour de France are very good memories, so it would be a dream to return in the kit of Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert,” concluded Smith.
