Matteo Trentin managed to grab the victory in the second stage of the Tour de Luxembourg. The UAE Team Emirates rider beat Florian Sénéchal and Davide Ballerini in the sprint to secure the stage.
The breakaway included Bastien Tronchon, Cyril Barthe, Tom Wirtgen, Joel Nicolau, Asier Etxeberria, Morten Hulgaard, James Fouché, and Justin Wolf. The group started with a small gap of 30 seconds and worked together to increase it over 3 minutes and 20 seconds.

However, the peloton caught up with the group just 1.2 kilometers before the finish line. Matteo Trentin proved to be the fastest in the sprint for victory. Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl riders Florian Sénéchal and Davide Ballerini finished second and third position respectively.
