Finn Fisher-Black wins stage 2 of the Tour of Oman and takes over race lead

UAE Team Emirates have taken over the Tour of Oman. Finn Fisher-Black has won stage 2 atop the Qurayyat summit finish, winning the final sprint in an uphill drag to the line.

In an unusual display of bad weather, the riders have found strong rains today in the desert of Oman. This did not stop three riders from trying out their luck this afternoon: Oscar Pelegrí, Nariyuk Masuda and Tegsh-Bayar Batsaikhan formed the day's breakaway, in a day that featured a few hills but ultimately was to be decided in Qurayyat.

The final climb was 2.7 kilometers at 6.7%. UAE Team Emirates were te big favourites for the day and they controlled the final climb. The plan was to make it tough and to favour their puncheurs and this went according to plan.

The stage was decided in a difficult sprint, Finn Fisher-Black had a strong acceleration and after winning the Muscat Classic, the Kiwi took the stage win and has become the new race leader. Luke Lamperti and Diego Ulissi finished second, with small gaps being created behind.
