Fem van Empel makes debut for Jumbo Visma in Volta Limburg Classic

Having had a brilliant cyclocross season, Fem van Empel made her Jumbo Visma debut in the Volta Limburg Classic, securing a commendable eighth position.

Shel has been under the tutelage of Rutger Tijssen, the sports technical manager for Jumbo-Visma's women's team, who now shares his observations on her. Prior to the race, she shared her thoughts and what she was anticipating. “I'm feeling good. I recently spent two weeks in Spain and made the necessary kilometres there. The preparation for my first road season went well," she told In de Leiderstrui.

"I'm going in with an open mind, and then I'll see,” concluded the Dutchwoman. The race was won by Mischa Bredewold, with van Empel coming in eighth, finishing almost one and a half minutes after her.
