Fabio Christen has taken victory in a thrilling finale to stage 4 of the 2023 Tour de l'Avenir, denying Isaac Del Toro in the final few hundred metres.
Heading into the final circuit, the Norwegian team were on the front of the peloton and setting an infernal pace that many riders could not live with, including race leader Carl Frederik Bévort.
With just 3km to go, two riders, Isaac Del Toro of Mexico and Pepijn Reinderink of the Netherlands held a 30-second advantage. Del Toro then attacked solo but as the inevitable attacks from the peloton came it was Swizerland's Fabio Christen who emerged victorious.
