Evita Muzic finished third in Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenges Femmes, 53 seconds behind her teammate and winner
Marta Cavalli. It was a perfect day for FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope, and the French explained.
"It was a bit of a perfect day today for the team, with a win, a podium and working together throughout the race. I think we had a perfect team race... the girls rode as hard as they could all the way up the climb, doing a perfect job of dropping Marta in the best conditions. I knew very well that she was the best in the race and I had a lot of confidence in her to go for the win," Muzic admited in a post-race interview.
On the slopes of Mont Ventoux there was no place to hide, and as soon as Cavalli went up the road there was nothing to be done. "Once she attacked, it was every rider for himself, I preferred to manage my climb... I am happy with this performance, and to be able to finish on the podium with my blue, white, and red jersey that I will soon put back in play at the French championships.” she concluded.
