With Fabio Jakobsen entering the final 12 months of his Soudal - Quick-Step contract the sprinters' future remains undecided, something the Dutch sprinter is determined to resolve one way or another.
"I want to seize as many opportunities as possible for sprinters," Jakobsen told an online press conference and things have certainly started in a positive manner for the 26-year-old, winning the second stage of his season opener at the Vuelta a San Juan. "I'll think about it in the future. Everything depends on how Lefevere sees the future of the team. If there is still a place for me, I will gladly stay. I've been riding with this team for six years and it's become a second home to me."
Whether or not Jakobsen stays at Quick-Step will be heavily dependent on whether or not he can impress Patrick Lefevere in the biggest races. One of these key races in the focus of the Dutch sprinter is Milano-Sanremo.
"To be able to fight for the win or to get a good result in Milan-Sanremo, I have to get through the many climbs of the course," he explains. "That race is in the back of my mind, but that doesn't change the way I prepare for Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne or Tirreno-Adriatico."
