Egan Bernal undergoes a surgery that should finally free him of his back pain

The only Latin American champion of the Tour de France, Colombian Egan Bernal of INEOS Grenadiers, had to undergo surgery once again to finally get rid of the problem causing his back pain that had been affecting him on the bike for many years now.

Through his social networks, Bernal informed about it: "Hi guys. I just wanted to give you a quick update," Egan begins his post. "Yesterday I had surgery to remove a hernia that had been causing me chronic back pain since 2020," says the Colombian.

This is also associated with his accident that almost left him out of the sport. He ended by hoping that this could give him some relief and improve his performance: "We hope this is the solution and that we are back on the bike without any discomfort. We can push hard on the bike again," Bernal said.
