Egan Bernal arrived in the leading group on the second stage of the Tour de France. The Colombian from INEOS Grenadiers claims to feel in good shape. This is how he described the end of the stage and what he expected of himself.
"The last climb was tough, but I felt very good and then it was a very fast finish. Obviously riders like van Aert or Pidcock have tried to go for the stage and my job was to be up there and I think we did well. So everything went well."
On the attack of his teammate Tom Pidcock in the last kilometres he commented the following: "Yes, it was a very hard attack, in fact, I had difficulties to see the movement well, he has once again shown how strong he is, he is going to be one of the best cyclists of the future."

He claims to be in better shape than at the Critérium du Dauphiné after having been able to train very well before the Tour de France: "I am very happy with my confidence. In the Dauphiné, I felt bad to be honest, but between the Dauphiné and the Tour I have been able to do adequate training and I think I have arrived in a better condition in the Tour, we will see how I recover and if I can do a good tour."
