26 year old Italian Edoardo Affini who is known for his skills against the clock goes for his 3rd season at Jumbo-Visma. The Italian had an interesting last season, being an important work rider in some key races for the team and got to wear the leaders red jersey in Vuelta a España.
"I tried to improve as much as possible and to do my support work better.Of course I received great rewards, like wearing the red jersey at the Vuelta", said Affini to the Italian newspaper La Voce di Mantova.
Despite being an important work rider for the team, individually Edoardo Affini results could had been a bit better since he did not shine in any particular race neither he won any individual time trial. The Italian acknowledges that but he still considers 2022 as "generally positive" and wants to "grow" this 2023 season.
His personal goals for 2023 consist in "the podium at the Italian championships in the time trial, maybe even the top step, wear the blue jersey (the color of the Italian national team jersey) in the most important races", and build up form in the Classics before heading to the "key event", the Giro d'Italia where he will be an important rider for Primoz Roglic.
