Demi Vollering: " I don't think I should be dissatisfied, But yeah, I think it's a shame I couldn't hang on a bit longer"

Demi Vollering finished second in the seventh stage of the Tour de France Femmes. She tried to counterattack stage winner Annemiek van Vleuten, but the gap was too large, and she finished 3 minutes behind her.

"This was all that was in it, so I don't think I should be dissatisfied," Vollering told Sporza. She continues, "But yeah, I think it's a shame I couldn't hang on a bit longer."

Van Vleuten started to create the lead at the top of the Col du Platzerwasel, Vollering tried to follow her, but the climb was not making it easy for her. "When I saw her come to the front, I knew what time it was, I only hoped that we could stay together with a bigger group for a bit longer, that was a shame. My day has never lasted this long, hallelujah," concluded Vollering.

She holds second positon in GC, 3 minutes and 14 seconds behind overall leader Annemiek Van Vleuten.
