Annemiek van Vleuten crushes competition in stage 7 of the Tour de France Femmes

Annemiek van Vleuten has won the seventh stage of Tour de France Femmes. She took a lead of more than 3 minutes which she continued till the finish line.

At the start of the stage, we saw Lorena Wiebes struggling to keep up with the peloton. After 30 kilometers of struggle, she decided to abandon the race. It was not a good day for breakaway riders as they were caught just 32 kilometers after the start.

Annemiek van Vleuten was continuously trying to attack. She was able to score some points through intermediate sprints. Fifteen kilometers before the finish line, she had 3 minutes and 24 seconds lead over Demi Vollering, while Elisa Longo Borghini was 6 minutes behind her.

Van Vleuten crossed the finish line with a lead of more than 3 minutes to secure her first stage victory in the tour. The seventh stage proved to be a game changer for Van Vleuten as she also took the yellow jersey from Marianne Vos. Demi Vollering finished second while Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig secured third position.
