Biniam Girmay has had a difficult spring, which ended with a crash at the Tour of Flanders. The Eritrean has needed several weeks to recover from a hard concussion, but has in the meantime resumed training heading towards the Tour de France and will kick off his second block of the season this weekend.
“After his heavy fall in the Tour of Flanders Bini has had problems for longer than wanted, but in recent weeks he has been able to train well at altitude in Eritrea," team DS Aike Visbeek told Het Laatste Nieuws. "We are curious about his level”.
Girmay will race the Brussels Cycling Classic this Sunday, a race which will suit his attributes. It will be his first race in over two months, but he will be leading Intermarché-Circus-Wanty in search of a result.
Girmay will most likely then travel to the Tour de Suisse where he will have more opportunities to fight for wins, but also build form ahead of his much awaited debut at the Tour de France.
