Biniam Girmay has had his calendar and main goals for the 2023 season revealed yesterday as Intermarché-Circus-Wanty conclude their team training camp, and he shares his thoughts on a Paris-Roubaix and Tour de France.
“My preparation went well and I can’t wait to resume competition. My program will be focused on three monuments and the Tour de France," Girmay revealed at the team presentation this Friday. "It would be fantastic if we could repeat the same performance in the Tour as what we achieved in the Giro 2022. It would be ideal to achieve our first stage victory, it doesn’t matter if it is me or a teammate taking it.”
Girmay will focus on the spring classics with particular attention, where he will attempt to defend his Gent-Wevelgem title. He's starting off his season next week at the Mallorca classics and then take a long period of training, where an altitude camp is expected. He will then return to competition in March at Tirreno-Adriatico.
From there, he will race Milano-Sanremo where he was 12th last year before aiming at the cobbled classics. He's going for all the main races, riding the E3 Saxo Classic and Gent-Wevelgem, before racing the Tour des Flandres and Paris-Roubaix. Afterwards, Girmay will still hunt a result at Amstel Gold Race where he should be able to contest for the top positions.

Girmay won't be returning to the Giro d'Italia this year where in 2022 he's achieved great success and tremendous popularity, but instead focus in the summer where the 22-year old will make his debut at the Tour de France.
