Egan Bernal is back on track and looking to resume heavy training towards the 2023 season. Less than a year after the crash that has marked his life, the Colombian is confident of a full recovery and is already aiming to return to his traditional training habits this winter.
Good couple of days training at home without discomfort, preparing for 2023..." Bernal said in an Instagram post. "With more desire than last year and the same goal, to be able to fight a Grande (Grand Tour, ed.)." INEOS DS Matteo Tosatto admitted that Bernal is considering and is very much a possibility for the Tour de France this upcoming summer, with the 25-year old basing his training around the French race.
"Let's see how far we get. Let the Apocalypses begin," he said. By that, he is referring to the training rides he has frequently undergone during the past winters, with long rides of over 7 hours and 250 kilometers, aptly termed "apocalyptic".
Bernal is back in full swing and will start his 2023 season at the Vuelta a San Juan, alongside teammate Filippo Ganna. Peter Sagan is also set to take part in the Argentinian race.
